The Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System is 300 kilometers (186 mi) long, part of the 900-kilometer (560 mi) Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System that extends from Cancun to Guatemala. It’s the second largest coral reef system in the world after the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

Tropical coral reefs are some of the most diverse ecosystems in the world—home to more than 100 species of hard and soft coral, 500 species of fish, and hundreds of invertebrates. The Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System protects the islands and atolls of the country from the rough seas created by the cooling northern trade winds. This reef system includes seven marine reserves, 450 cays, and three atolls. Because of its exceptional natural beauty, natural habitats, and potential for conservation of biological diversity, the Reserve System has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A key advantage to diving with Belize Diving Services is our proximity to the best dive sites. Most sites are less than 30 minutes away. Trips start at 9 am and end before 1:30 pm. The exceptions are the Turneffe Atoll South End trip that starts at 6 am and ends around 2:30 pm, and Turneffe Atoll North End and Spanish Bay dives that start at 9 am and return about 2:30 pm.

All trips are available upon request and are subject to weather and availability. Water, fruits, and gear are provided on all dives. All dive gear and dive computers are included in the cost of the dive. Underwater cameras may be rented for an additional cost from Liquid Imaging.
