Belize Diving Services – Technical Diving

Belize Diving Services has a rich history of technical diving. Those who have read Sheck Exley’s “Cavern’s Measureless to Man” might remember his first chapter entitled “Giant Cave, Belize”. Some of the same cave divers who explored with Eckley founded Belize Diving Services in 1978. Today, Belize Diving Services is the only Technical Dive Center in Belize.

While special permission is needed now to dive the caves, Belize continues to present tremendous opportunity to build your technical diving skills. With fascinating technical dives such as The Great Blue Hole and the wreck of The Myron L, and incredible deep wall sites such as Myner’s Gold and Treasure Hunt, the little island of Caye Caulker is the ideal spot to take your diving beneath the recreational scuba diving limit.

Your technical diving education begins with two courses, Decompression Procedures and Advanced Nitrox. The TDI Decompression Procedures course prepares you for planned, staged decompression diving. With a maximum operating depth of 45m/150 feet, this course is your first step beyond the normal sport diving limits.

Your TDI Instructor will provide you with valuable information and skills, including:
• Kit set-up
• Equipment requirements
• Decompression techniques
• Decompression breathing gases
• Gas management
• Contingency planning

The Advanced Nitrox Course teaches you how to safely use Nitrox mixes from EAN 21 to EAN 100.

The TDI Decompressions Procedures course combined with the TDI Advanced Nitrox course form the foundation of all other technical courses. After these two courses and some additional experience, the stage has been set for you to move onto additional technical levels.
