Scuba Discovery The Discover Scuba Diving course is a one-day dive experience. After watching a 20-minute video and completing four shallow water skills, anyone 10 and over can go out to the reef and explore the underwater world under the direct supervision of an instructor. In completing this course, you have completed your first confined water training dive and your first open water dive. Both of these can be credited towards your full Open Water Course at Belize Diving Services or anywhere in the world.
Open Water Scuba The Open Water Diver Course gives you the certification that you need to dive anywhere in the world. The course progresses you from shallow water where you can easily stand to 60-foot dives at one of the many beautiful sites on the Belize Barrier Reef. There are four portions to the course and several ways to complete them:
Classroom
Before you begin your life as a diver, it is important that you begin with the basics that you need to know to stay safe while diving. There are several ways to approach this portion of the course.
Start at Home – If you email us at info@belizedivingservices.net, we can provide you with a code that will enable you to sign on with SDI at http://www.sdi-onlinetraining.com and begin your Open Water Scuba Diver course immediately. Then you can do your in-water training when you arrive on Caye Caulker.
Start with Us – If you desire a more personal experience, you can do your classroom training with us. We offer an air-conditioned indoor classroom, an outdoor classroom, and provide all class materials. We have computers for you to borrow to complete your SDI training online. Or if you prefer you can take your PADI course with us on-site. The onsite classroom portion typically takes 1 day.
Confined-Water Training (1 day)
In the confined water portion of training, you learn the skills that enable you to deal with a multitude of situations that might arise on SCUBA. You can complete these skills with us in about a half day (more if you need the extra time) when you get down here.
Open Water Training (2 Days)
This is where all your work pays off. You go out on the dive boats with instructors and frequently with other divers who are already certified, and start your open water dives. Over the course of two days, you practice the skills that you learned in the confined-water training and explore the beautiful underwater world of Belize.
